Year 5 BLOG 28th Feb 2020
It has been great to welcome the children back after the half term holiday. On Monday, the children enjoyed painting their circles which became a part of the excellent display outside of the School office. Keep a look out for this and children, see if you can spot your own circles!
In Big Picture, we have enjoyed starting our new topic on the Anglo Saxons. We have already looked at Anglo Saxon artefacts and considered what they can teach us about the past. We have also enjoyed learning about where the Anglo Saxons came from and where they lived. Next week, we would like to create our own Anglo Saxon houses so please bring in any brown cardboard you have at home!
The children have been really resilient in our new maths topic on fractions. We have been really impressed with their ability to find equivalent fractions and convert improper fractions into mixed numbers.
In English, we have been imitating famous authors and 'magpieing' their style to create our own character descriptions. We have already produced some very creative phrases!
Have a lovely weekend and we look forward to seeing you on Monday.
