Year 3 BLOG 6th March 2020
The school value that we have been focussing on this week was joy and yesterday's World Book Day Event captured this perfectly. The children had a great time taking part in book related activities and in the afternoon had the opportunity to build their own reading dens. Thank you to all the parents and carers who were able were able to join us. It was fantastic to see so many children dressed up as book characters and talking about their favourite stories.
In English, we have started looking at our focus text 'The Day the Crayons Quit' which the children really enjoyed. Many of the children recognised the book from previous years in school. Their knowledge of the story allowed them to consider the key features of letter and respond to the crayons. Next week, we will be moving on to looking at formal letters of complaint and how these differ to the crayons' letters.
In Maths, we have brought our fractions topic to an end by looking at some word problems involving fractions. Next week, we are excited to begin our new topic about measure beginning with measuring and comparing lengths. If you fancy doing some measuring around the house this weekend that would be a great start.
Have a lovely weekend!
