St John The Baptist's Drama Club performed a rousing performance of Romeo & Juliet at the Normansfield Theatre in the Langdon Down Centre, Hampton Wick. They also performed the play twice at school, first for the pupils and then later, parents.
The pupils love to perform Shakespeare, and this was the result of many months hard work and rehearsal, from dedicated pupils of all year groups. Featuring both classic and contemporary music, with songs and dance performed solo and in groups.
The script stuck very closely to the original Shakespearean language, with abbreviations only being made to reduce the overall running time to within an hour and a half. As always, this was an incredible feat for children between the ages of just 7 and 11 years old, they performed the play with a true understanding of the source material.
